UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and the President of the Republic of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta today addressed the 1st Ministerial and Experts Conference on Sustainable Transport in Africa

Today the 1st Ministerial and Experts Conference on Sustainable Transport in Africa (please see agenda) which at the same time is the first conference of the African Sustainable Transport Forum (ASTF) and which takes place in Nairobi has been addressed by UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, the President of the Republic of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta and UNEP Executive Director Achim Steiner. They all highlighted the key role of sustainable transport to achieve national and international development, environmental, health and climate targets.

In parallel and to foster regional networking GIZ is organising two events, forum and regional workshop, which are taking place on October 30th and 31st within the "Promoting Sustainable Transport Solutions for East African Cities" (SUSTRAN) project.
